Watching Easy A....
"Is there something I can help you with something?"
"The Bible."
"Oh that's in best sellers next to Twilight."
"..."
Really?
Anyways just kinda came to rant.
Why do people judge people by what they do with other people or who they hang out with or how they dress or what they want to do for a living or what they love to do or how they talk or say things? Yeah, I know, I do it to and call me a hypocrite but why?
I've had the same wardrobe for 4 years and I love it. I wear pretty much the same thing every day, skinnies, converse, and a band t shirt. Does that classify me as emo? No, it classifies me as a person that loves music. Which is why I'm in band. Does that classify me as a band geek? Sure yeah, I'd take that classification with pride but it doesn't mean I hang out with everyone in band or that I'm the greatest saxophonist ever. I play video games, I read books, I'm really smart but I don't show it. Does that mean I'm a geek/dork/nerd, a book worm, and a liar? Yeah sure, go ahead call me all those names. I could give a fuck less. I take people's shit because I can give a fuck less. Start a rumor about me? Go for it. Tear me down and watch me burn? Don't care because I will climb up and I will tear you down just like you did me. I'm mother fuckin' Marlee Kidd and when and even if I make a name for myself, I'll come back and thank every single one of the assholes that helped me strive to push a little bit harder just to be a little more awesome.
I might take your shit and deal with it day in and day out but some people...some people can't deal with it. If you're going to make fun of someone for the way they dress, maybe you should make sure that it's not the only thing they can afford because their parents may or may not be divorced and their mom or dad has to work two or three jobs just to pay bills or maybe their mom or dad doesn't have a job and their spouse has to work both jobs to make ends meet. Or maybe someone doesn't listen to what's "popular" right now. Maybe it's because they don't like hip hop or rap or techno or whatever else is popular in the current teenage era. Or maybe someone didn't get the new Justin Beiber CD or maybe someone didn't go see the new Twilight movie or maybe someone didn't get Skyward Sword or Skyrim or MW3 or Batman Arkham City. But seriously, who cares?
It shouldn't matter what we listen to, how we dress, what we like, or what we don't like. People should like people for their personalities. We've been programmed to only like people of the same social class or of the same "group" that high school forces us into. But when you're on the outside looking into what everything actually looks like and not just seems, you realize you seriously need to make a change for the better.
I've made fun of people not knowing what their situation is in life. I've called people so many names I can't even begin to list them. But you know what, I've been called alot of names, I've been made fun of, and I've had to deal with people, but the only thing that it has done for me is make me stronger. Sure it might hurt for awhile but once you get through it you realize that it wasn't so bad and they only did it because they felt like they needed to or they're insecure about something.
Anyways back to the point, Why can't people just accept people for what they're like and not by what they have or what they listen to or what they play or what they do? In my opinion, it's because we have been told to do so by our peers or by our parents or by a significant figure in our life. Does it mean we should do it or listen to them when they do it? Hell no.
Anyways end rant. I'm going to bed.
